About Susan Lane

Susan Lane is a born “foodie”. Having started her own catering company (The Open Kitchen) in 1994, she has immersed herself in the “food world” and has yet to come up for air. Her new catering company, “Susan A. Lane Events”, brings the top chefs of Boston’s best restaurants to your event along with the industries most experienced and professional staff of event managers, servers and bartenders (with her since the beginning of her first company- The Open Kitchen Catering Company). Her enthusiasm for serving the best food possible is undeniable. Whether it be the “best” Vietnamese Spring Rolls or the “finest” Moros Y Cristianos- black beans and rice, her quest for the most authentic recipe is always at hand.

  1. Love reading your description about China Town, particularly your food experience with Carol, a dear friend of mine too. I’d echo what you said about her having exacting sense of what she does … because she took me to some of the wonderful places in Chinatown you mentioned in the blog… Hope to visit your Open Kitchen someday.

  2. I’ve enjoyed your blog very much and look forward to cooking up a Susan dish soon. The open kitchen was an afternoon indulgence for me, when my son was at Red Barn Nursery school in Weston.
He’s now at NYU. Time sure flies, when you’re eating great food!

    • Lisa,
It is always nice to hear that readers are getting something out of my blog. Thanks so much for being a loyal Open Kitchen fan. I miss the contact that I had with customers at the cafe. I guess this is a way of staying in touch with everyone.
Keep reading! Maybe we’ll cross paths at some point!!

  3. All I can say is that Susan should be the next Food Network Star. Having had the pleasure of eating Susan’s creations many times over many years, I am continually surprised and amazed at her creativity and endless passion for good food. Most of my “WOW” recipes have come from Susan and while I don’t even compare as a cook to Susan, I owe so many of my “talents” in the kitchen to her.

Susan, I am so glad you put this blog out there. Sharing your ideas and knowledge is fantastic. While I am always inspired by you in so many ways, not the least of which is your culinary prowess, I can only hope that everyone who reads your blog tries even one of your recipes – they’ll be hooked. OK – now I’m hungry and need to go cook something!!!

    Love ya,
    Cara

  4. Hey Susan. What a great idea the blog is! Good way to stay in touch. Rachel and I are still traveling the horse show circuit, leaving little time for much else.
We are in Vermont right now and head next to saugerties, ny. I love farmers markets and hope to catch one today before the day in done. I love fresh food prepared simply. Still miss my daily run into weston ctr. for soup!!!!
    I hope you are well.
    Kindest Regards,
